Through its programs and services, the Ministry of Community and Social Services:
•helps adults with a developmental disability live, work and participate in a range of community activities,
•enforces support orders issued by the courts so that families get the money to which they are entitled,
•promotes accessibility and works to break down barriers that prevent people with disabilities from fully participating in the social and economic life of Ontario, and
•helps Ontarians recover from hardship and regain control of their lives.

Helping women flee domestic violence

The ministry funds many programs and services to help women and their children live free of domestic violence.
These programs and services are delivered through more than 100 community social services organizations across Ontario, and
include:
• emergency shelters
• crisis and support services
• counselling services
• housing support services
• transitional support services

Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)

The Ontario Disability Support Program helps people with disabilities who are in financial need pay for living expenses, like food and housing.The program provides eligible people with disabilities with 1) financial help and 2) help finding a job.

Ontario Works

If you are in temporary financial need, Ontario Works can:
*provide you with money, and
*help you find a job.
To be eligible to receive help from Ontario Works, you must:
*live in Ontario
*need money right away to help pay for food and housing costs, and
be willing to take part in activities that will help you find a job.
If you qualify, Ontario Works can provide you with:
*Financial assistance to help you cover the costs of your basic needs (e.g. food) and housing costs, and
*Employment assistance to help you prepare for and find a job.
You may also receive health benefits for yourself and your family, including drug and dental coverage. Additional benefits may also be available to you.
